SCOTUS Ruling is Important Win for Religious Liberty

Statement

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of pro-life pregnancy centers in the case National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) v. Becerra.

"I applaud today's Supreme Court decision in support of religious freedom, which reversed California's unconstitutional attack on pro-life pregnancy centers.

"In America we are guaranteed the freedom of speech and the religious freedom to live out our faith. These rights are hallmarks of our democracy and are enshrined in our Constitution. I'm heartened that the Supreme Court upheld these important rights today in this historic ruling. California's attack on pro-life pregnancy centers represents just the latest example of big-government liberalism's disdain for religious freedom, and today's ruling is an important moment not only for pro-life Americans, but for the continued protection of all Americans' religious beliefs under our Constitution."

Whip Scalise previously signed onto an Amicus brief, along with 143 others members of Congress, to argue in support of NIFLA's case.
