Rebuilding the Military to Maximum Strength

Statement

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the House advanced H.R. 6157, Department of Defense Appropriation Act, 2019:

"House Republicans are working with President Trump to rebuild our military to maximum strength. Today, the House took real action to give our troops a well-deserved raise--the largest in nearly 10 years--and we are investing in their safety and success by increasing funding for essential equipment and medical care. America is facing down enemies on several fronts, from terrorism in the Middle East to nuclear threats in Asia to cyber warfare, and our men and women in uniform are our first line of defense. We rely on them to keep our country safe and they rely on us to give them the tools to be effective. I'm proud to have helped lead this bill to passage and look forward to the President signing it into law."
