Rep. Rokita's Statement On President Trump's Nomination For The Supreme Court

Congressman Todd Rokita released this statement following President Trump's nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the United States Supreme Court:

"Tonight's decision marks a monumental time in our Nation's history," said Congressman Todd Rokita. "The stakes are high as we enter into this nomination process, and the liberal elite will continue to resist and obstruct qualified candidates like Judge Kavanaugh from being confirmed. That is why I will fight alongside President Trump to ensure we secure Judge Kavanaugh as our next Supreme Court Justice and I am certain that he will strictly follow our Constitution and be a great asset to our Nation on the bench."

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is nominated by President Trump to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, who retired this summer and was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1987. President Trump's pick to replace the late Antonin Scalia, Justice Neil Gorsuch, joined the Supreme Court in April 2017.
