Issue Position

The governor's first duty is to (1) Secure the public & (2) Enforce the rule of law. That's why we will never have sanctuary cities when I'm Governor.

The Wall
You can't have a nation without borders. We have the White House and Congress. Our leaders need to follow through on their promise to build the wall, and we'll do what the President needs us to do to secure the border.

Sanctuary Cities
They're illegal, and by definition they encourage lawlessness. They won't happen when I'm governor.

Deferred Action for Illegal Aliens
Amnesty is a bad policy. I have compassion for anyone in a bad situation, but this sets a bad precedent. If we want to solve the illegal immigration problem, setting up additional benefits for illegal immigrants is the wrong strategy.

In-State Tuition for Illegal Aliens
Giving benefits to someone who is here illegally is a bad policy. I have compassion for anyone, but we shouldn't give benefits to someone here illegally that we wouldn't give to someone who is here legally.

Refugee resettlement
I've been to the Middle East, I've worked in a camp of Christian refugees from ISIS, I've talked to victims. One thing that is clear to me is that these governments are not capable of vetting, and when it comes to those entering our country, we need to know where they come from, who they are, and what their background is. We need, as President Trump put it, to have an extreme vetting process. We can have compassion for anyone, but we also need to be smart.
