Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released the following statement today to reflect on the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:

"The tragic impacts of September 11, 2001 resonate to this day. Our lives were forever changed. A battle that seemed so far away was suddenly at our doorsteps.

"However, on that day, the American people came together. We must remember this resilience and the dedication we showed to our fellow Americans during that most trying of times. We must also remember and thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice, our heroic first-responders, our brave service men and women, and the families whose lives were forever changed by the loss of loved ones.

"May we always remember their sacrifice, and may God continue to bless the United States of America."
