Location: Washington, DC

Tackling the issue of Sexual Assault has been a priority of Congressman Don Bacon's (NE-02) dating back to his years in the Air Force. As a Commander at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, he implemented what was later ranked by the Air Force as the number one sexual assault response program in the USAF. Today, he joined Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08), John Faso (NY-19), Steve Stivers (OH-15), and Mo Brooks (AL-05) as an original cosponsor of Rep. Elise Stefanik's (NY-21) bill to extend the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) (H.R. 6796).

"During Sexual Assault Awareness month last April, I spoke on the House floor about the need to support those who have been affected by this issue, and the importance of VAWA in combatting domestic violence," said Rep. Bacon. "Not only do I support VAWA, but I have worked on other pieces of legislation to address sexual assault, worked with members of the community to further understand their needs for survival and protection, and how to combat it."
