Mills Responds to LePage Asking Feds to Reject Medicaid Expansion Application: "I've Had Enough of this Administration Standing in the Way."

Statement

Date: Sept. 4, 2018
Location: Augusta, ME

Attorney General Janet Mills, the Democratic nominee for Governor, issued the following statement on Governor Paul LePage asking the federal government to reject the state's plan for Medicaid expansion:

When Mainers tell me they don't feel like they're being heard in Augusta, this is what they're talking about. Health care is vital to thousands of people and businesses across the state, which is why Medicaid expansion is supported by entities as diverse as hospitals, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, and those of us fighting the opioid epidemic. Like a lot of Mainers, I've had enough of this Administration standing in the way. The money is there, and, as governor, I'll implement Medicaid expansion on day one. From the health of our people to the health of our economy, there's too much at stake not to.
