Issue Position

As the daughter of immigrant parents and the first in her family to attend and graduate college, Melissa knows firsthand that a quality education is the foundation for being able to get a good job, own a home and raise a family. That's why Melissa will ensure the state invests in education from the earliest level, delivering the resources necessary so our students can get the training they need to be competitive in the 21st century economy.

Melissa will make career technical education a priority for our state, working to connect students with the careers and opportunities that will put them on the path to the middle-class. Having worked with the Fresno Teachers Association so our teachers have the resources they need, Melissa will continue to work to ensure our teachers are able to provide our children with the best education possible. And she'll fight to ensure college is affordable, and that higher education does not leave young people with crippling debt.
