Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement following news that the U.S. Senate had confirmed President Donald J. Trump's selection of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.

"Congratulations to Judge Kavanaugh on his confirmation as the newest Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a jurist with a proven record of respecting the Constitution, and his experience will serve the American people well on the nation's highest court.

"This confirmation underscores President Trump's promise to nominate conservative judges. In addition to his two Supreme Court appointments, the President has fulfilled this commitment by successfully placing over 60 judges on lower courts.

"Thank you to Senator Deb Fischer and Senator Ben Sasse for their tireless work during the confirmation process. Their public support and work within the body of the U.S. Senate was critical to confirming President Trump's nomination. Nebraska greatly appreciates their contributions."
