Resident Commissioner Continues with Agenda to Promote Relations Between Puerto Rico and The United States in Spain

The Resident Commissioner, Jenniffer González Colón, met today with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Spain, Fernando Valenzuela and with the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs that promote gender diversity and inclusion of the AmCham organization.

González Colón is on her second day of meetings in the Spanish capital as part of her work as co-chair of the Congressional Caucus of Friends of Spain. Her schedule includes discussing bilateral relations between Spain and the United States, as well encouraging commercial ties with Spain, and the inclusion of Puerto Rico in the commercial treaty between Spain and the United States.

The visit, promoted by the Spain-USA Council Foundation, included a well-attended presentation with members of the Board of the Foundation at Casa de América; a meeting with Charles Powell of the "think tank" of the Elcano Royal Institute, which serves as a laboratory of ideas; and a dialogue with editors of the main Spanish newspaper, El Pais.

González Colón met with the AmCham Committee of Women Entrepreneurs who work and defend gender diversity in companies. "The meeting allowed me to know the Spanish legislation on gender diversity and its effects on the labor market. But the experiences of these high executives in different industries in Spain also allows us to join efforts to raise awareness and dissemination of the changes that both continents have to take to continue opening spaces and access to executive and management positions for women in the industry ", expressed Resident Commissioner González Colón after the meeting in which she shared with Beatriz Faro, President for Europe and Asia of the internal medicine unit of the Pharmaceutical with presence in Puerto Rico, Pfizer.

Tomorrow, the Commissioner meets with the United States Ambassador in Spain and culminates with the commercial promotion of Puerto Rico before the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations.

Yesterday, the Resident Commissioner met with the President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain and third in rank in the Spanish government, Ana Pastor, with whom she discussed the relations between Puerto Rico, Spain and the United States as well as developments in the Spanish energy industry and business opportunities.
