As a Lawrence City Commissioner and a Douglas County Commissioner, I have seen first hand the negative impact of state and federal unfunded mandates. Local citizens and elected persons should be able to determine what is best for each community. I think it is extremely cavalier of our Legislature to think they know what is best for us.
