Big pensions are dinosaurs in the private sector and have bankrupted may large corporations. On a governmental level multiple states, including Kanas, have underfunded plans that are hundreds of million dollars short when real actuarial data is used. One clear creative solution for Kansas came in 2014 when a new Tier 3 of KPERS was created for new hires. Steve Becker voted against it.
