Issue Position: Jobs and the Economy

Issue Position

Pat believes that the thing that will truly fix Pennsylvania's budgetary issues is economic growth. The solution to revenue problems is not more taxes like Governor Wolf and Senate Democrats have proposed. Rather a climate in which economic growth is larger will bring more revenue to the State. Pat has opposed all of Governor Wolf's tax increase proposals which have totaled over $8.3 Billion.

Pat has been a strong advocate for energy jobs in our region. He has opposed industry specific taxation like Governor Wolf's energy taxes. Working together with Representative Carl Metzgar, Pat secured funding to bring a new coal mine to Somerset County.

Finally, Pat believes that good infrastructure means good jobs. Pat has been leading the fight to finish two major infrastructure projects in our region. Pat has been an active participant in the coalition that has been formed to finish Route 219 in southern Somerset. When the completion of the Mon Fayette Expressway was threatened, Pat joined forces with leaders of both parties to ensure that project moved forward. The completion of these projects will mean jobs and economic growth for our region for years to come.
