Arts and Humanities Month

Arts and Humanities Month

Whereas, Arts and humanities activities of cultural and educational organizations throughout Michigan add balance to the everyday lives of our citizens, enriching us all with an appreciation of the beauty, knowledge, and creativity that is at the core of the human spirit; and,

Whereas, Michigan's rich cultural legacy and the diverse heritage of our population are treasures we celebrate throughout the year in small and large communities around the state; and,

Whereas, Through the observation of October as Arts and Humanities Month, special emphasis is given to the benefits we receive individually from the visual and performing arts and the study of history, philosophy, and literature; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2005, as Arts and Humanities Month in Michigan. I encourage all citizens to participate in arts and humanities activities and to honor those individuals and organizations that make them possible.
