Issue Position: Working Families

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

We are one 'ohana, from Launani Valley to Wahiawa to Whitmore Village.

We work hard to care for our families and our neighbors, especially those who are most vulnerable. We are proud of our shared community values, including our commitment to nurturing one another's health and advancing the common good.

As your representative, I will put the needs of working families first. I will increase access to quality healthcare for our community by fully funding Wahiawā General Hospital, addressing our state's physician shortage, and devoting additional support to patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

I will also advocate for genuine affordable housing for all of Hawai'i's hardworking families. I will support proposals to build more affordable and workforce housing units in Central O'ahu. Additionally, I will seek to improve funding for our state's Housing First program, which provides our houseless population with the opportunity to achieve financial stability.

Finally, because all workers deserve a living wage, I support increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour.
