Taxes, like government, should be that which is necessary to educate our youth, develop our state's human resources, provide infrastructure & governance, provide security, and protect liberty. Taxes should not be used as a reward and punishment system to guide behavior of the people. The tax base should be fair and broad to avoid the feast or famine that a heavy extraction tax dependency guarantees.
