#SubEnvironment to Hold Legislative Hearing on Transportation Fuels Discussion Draft

Statement

Date: Nov. 28, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

The Subcommittee on Environment, chaired by Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), announced today a hearing for Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, "Discussion Draft: The 21st Century Transportation Fuels Act."

#SubEnvironment will examine the 21st Century Transportation Fuels Act, a discussion draft led by Chairman John Shimkus and Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) to reshape federal transportation fuel policies.

"This draft legislation is the culmination of three stakeholder roundtables, five subcommittee hearings, and numerous other meetings this Congress," said #SubEnvironment Chairman Shimkus. "By comprehensively approaching federal transportation fuel policies, the draft seeks to transition from the Renewable Fuel Standard to a performance-based high-octane standard for vehicles of the future, remove barriers that limit consumer choices at the pump, and bring greater certainty to the industries affected by those policies. I look forward to a constructive and productive dialogue on this discussion draft next week so our committee can continue to develop solutions that protect the environment and provide better value to consumers."
