Issue Position: Economic Development

Issue Position

Throughout my career in the Vermont legislature I have been focused on growing Vermont's economy, creating economic opportunity for all of Windsor County's residents. In recent years, we've made real progress to bolster our regions economy, such as opening up access to Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district in Springfield to spur downtown development, investments in improving our transportation and digital infrastructure systems, and prioritize a green energy economy that will create jobs while saving the planet.

More work needs to be done, however, to ensure that Vermont is the best place to get a job, start a family, or even start your own business. That's why I voted to increase the minimum wage to $15/an hour and provide paid family leave for every Vermonter. I know that affordability is more than a slogan -- it means higher wages, benefits that take less out of your pocket, access to quality affordable housing and healthcare. As your State Senator, I will continue to fight for economic development for our region, and economic justice for all.
