Statement

Date: March 7, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) joined the House of Representatives in voting to pass H.J. Res. 183, which condemns discrimination and hateful acts against Jewish and Muslim persons, and encourages all public officials to confront the reality of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, and other forms of bigotry. The resolution passed the House with strong bipartisan support by a vote of 407-23. Following passage of H.J. Res. 183, Congressman Courtney issued the following statement:

"The new Congressional Majority's stance against anti-Semitism is clear. With the passage of this resolution, the record now clearly reflects the position of this body: that anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim conduct have no place in the halls of Congress. I congratulate Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer for pulling together such a strong, bipartisan, and diverse coalition to vote in overwhelming support of this resolution today."
