Statement

Date: May 1, 2019
Location: Hartford, CT

Governor Ned Lamont released the following statement regarding a report released today by the U.S. Department of Commerce showing that Connecticut's economy grew by 1.8 percent during the fourth quarter of 2018:

"While today's news about Connecticut's growth during the final quarter of 2018 is positive, there is no mistaking that we have a long way to go. Still, we have one of the top three most highly educated and productive workforces in the country. Our K-12 education system ranks at number four among the fifty states. This underscores the need for an honest, stable state budget and a transportation system with modern rail and transit options to give businesses the confidence to move or grow here and experience Connecticut's high quality of life."
