Statement from Governor Murphy on Yom Hashoah

Statement

Date: May 2, 2019
Location: Trenton, NJ

"As we join our Jewish community in commemorating Yom Hashoah, and remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, we do so against a rising tide of anti-Semitism in New Jersey and across the country. We cannot allow ourselves to think that religious hatred was defeated more than 70 years ago. It remains a pernicious threat today. If the words 'never again' are to have true meaning, we must work harder to stand up to hatred, where ever it lurks and whenever it appears. Only then will we be able to honestly say that that we learned from history, and did our best to ensure it was not repeated."
