U.S. Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Diana DeGette (D-CO), the co-chairs of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, released the following statement today in response to the U.S. Court of Appeals 9th Circuit's decision to temporarily allow the Trump Administration's Title X Domestic gag rule to go into effect while the underlying lawsuit challenging its legality remains pending:

"The Ninth Circuit's decision ruling that the Trump gag rule can go into effect threatens access to birth control and essential health care access for millions of people who obtain high-quality care through Title X.

"The Trump Administration's continued efforts to gut women's access to comprehensive reproductive health care and efforts around the country to undermine women's constitutionally-protected right to an abortion is dangerous and wrong.

"It's never okay to deny patients accurate and evidence-based medical information. This will limit women's access to care and have dire consequences for millions of American families, especially women of color, low-income women, the LGBTQ+ community, and those in rural areas.

"Congress created the Title X program to help equalize access to quality family planning and reproductive health care, and today's ruling will significantly undermine that."
