Issue Position: Flood Control

Across District 70 and across our state, a culture of flood recovery and flood prevention has become a way of life. Historic investments in flood risk and reduction have seen massive allocations in the area from the state, city-parish, and federal government in recent years, especially in the aftermath of the 2016 floods.

"As our entire state invests in technology and strategies to cope with more frequent high water events, we must take the politics out of preventing and recovering from floods. It's got to be a people first effort. That's what it will be for me."
-- Dr. Belinda Davis
As we invest in smarter strategies for water management and invest in local infrastructure to keep our people and property safe, Dr. Belinda Davis is committed to seeking continued state and federal investments in the Capital region's flood protection systems by:

1. Removing party politics from the effort to fully fund flood protection for our region of the state so that our state and federal delegations can continue to stand together to advocate for our families.
2. Stay committed to the Master Plan developed to focus on research-based, short and long term projects that will have the most impact, the fastest.
3. Continue to seek new and innovative community funding partnerships to leverage local, state, and federal funds quicker.
