McConnell Secures $7.84 Million for Family & Children's Place to Assist Children in the Louisville area

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today that Family & Children's Place in Louisville, Kentucky has been awarded a $7.84 million competitive federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of Head Start. For more than 135 years, Family & Children's Place has helped protect and encourage children in the Louisville area and it plans to use these federal resources to prepare children for excellence in the classroom.

Senator McConnell contacted HHS in support of his constituents' application and Family & Children's Place's mission to help put vulnerable children on the path to success in Jefferson County.

"Kentucky's children deserve the best start possible, and I'm grateful to organizations like Family & Children's Place for their dedication to protecting our kids and helping them develop into tomorrow's leaders," said Senator McConnell. "These federal funds will give children every opportunity to enter school ready to thrive, and I enjoyed partnering with Family & Children's Place and support their inspirational work.
