Woodall Joins Colleagues and Passes Bipartisan Funding for Military

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020. This legislation authorizes U.S. defense operations, readiness, and healthcare programs for our troops and their families. Among its numerous provisions, this year's NDAA agreement will modernize our military to deter strategic rivals like China and Russia, institute a 3.1 percent pay raise for service members and their families, and provide for the creation of a Space Force as the sixth branch of the Armed Forces.

"Despite a rocky road to its final passage, Republicans and Democrats have come together and passed the NDAA for the 59th consecutive year. This bipartisan bill is the blueprint for our national defense policy and reaffirms our nation's priorities, such as ensuring the livelihood of the men and women of our Armed Forces, keeping America safe, and preserving our global leadership," said Congressman Woodall. "It is critical that Congress present a united front in advancing America's security and appropriately equip ourselves for the challenges of the future, whether that be confronting foreign enemies or the expanding importance of cybersecurity and space to our national security. Increasing our military capabilities in space and cyberspace is vital to protecting our national interests and keeping pace with our international competitors. This year's National Defense Authorization Act does just that."
