U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) today announced he will support the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA):
"I've long said that we need to renegotiate NAFTA to help level the playing field for Michigan. The USMCA is not perfect, but it is stronger than the initial deal the Administration announced and includes provisions I pushed for to strengthen enforcement and labor standards. When this bipartisan agreement comes before the Senate, I plan to vote for it because I believe it will make some progress for Michigan workers, businesses and farmers. Our work, though, is not over. Michiganders can count on me to ensure President Trump and future Administrations vigorously enforce USMCA and that we properly review it within six years to make sure it is working in our state's best interests."
