Rep. Omar's Statement on the Fire at Tawfiq Islamic Center in North Minneapolis

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) released the following statement after the fire at Tawfiq Islamic Center. Officials have not yet determined the motive of the fire.

"My heart goes out to the congregants of the Tawfiq Islamic Center in North Minneapolis," said Rep. Omar. "I'm glad no one was hurt in the fire last night and grateful our firefighters acted quickly to limit the damage. Hate crimes have been on the rise in our state and it's imperative we address these crimes with urgency. It's devastating that these heinous acts continue to occur at houses of worship. I urge state and federal officials to fully investigate whether this was an act of arson."
