Today, Democrat Eugene DePasquale received the endorsement of Equality PAC, the political action committee formed by leaders of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. In today's endorsement, the powerful political group highlighted DePasquale's work for LGBT equality.

"Eugene DePasquale's strong track record fighting for full LGBT equality in Pennsylvania is exactly the type of champion we need in our fight for full equality," said Equality PAC Co-Chair and Rhode Island Congressman David Cicilline. "Eugene has dedicated his career to making a real difference in people's lives and he always stands up for LGBT equality. We know our caucus will be stronger with Eugene in it and that's why we're dedicated to helping him win this race."

"We're proud to have Eugene's allyship in the fight for full LGBT equality," said Equality PAC Co-Chair and California Congressman Mark Takano. "Pennsylvanians clearly value and celebrate diversity in their state, and deserve a Congressperson who will stand up for everyone's rights and vote to finally pass the Equality Act. I'm confident Eugene will be a proud voice for all Pennsylvanians, regardless of the color of their skin, their gender, or whom they love and look forward to serving with him."

"I am honored to have received an endorsement from Equality PAC," said Eugene DePasquale. "Great progress has been made but there is a lot more work to be done and I look forward to continuing the fight for full equality for the LGBT community with my future colleagues in Congress."

Equality PAC is the political arm of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus and is dedicated to the full legal and societal equality for LGBT Americans. All funds raised into Equality PAC are spent supporting and electing openly LGBT individuals and strong LGBT allies to the United States Congress and Senate who are committed to passing the Equality Act and to ensuring full civil rights and protections for all LGBT individuals.

Last year, Equality PAC made history by helping to elect Senator Kyrsten Sinema (Arizona), re-electing Senator Tammy Baldwin (WI), and electing three new Members of Congress: Angie Craig (MN), Chris Pappas (NH), and Sharice Davids (KS). In total, Equality PAC contributed nearly $3m towards the effort to flip the House during the midterm elections and plans to continue building on that progress in the 2020 elections with endorsed LGBT candidates in open Democratic seats in California, New York, and New Mexico and an open-Republican seat in Texas.

Eugene DePasquale is serving his second term as Pennsylvania's 51st Auditor General. Previously, he served in Pennsylvania's House of Representatives in the 95th district and as Deputy Secretary for the state's Department of Environmental Protection. Eugene's audits have saved taxpayers over $1 billion by exposing government waste, fraud and abuse. He's helped protect children from abuse, nearly eliminated Pennsylvania's backlog of untested rape kits, exposed abuse in nursing homes, and taken steps to combat the climate crisis.
