Chairman Inhofe and Ranking Member Reed File Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act

Statement

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Ranking Member Senator Jack Reed (D-R.I.) today announced they have filed S. 4049, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA).

"Today, Senator Reed and I had the honor of filing the 60th annual National Defense Authorization Act. What this bipartisan bill does is straightforward: care for our troops; preserve peace through strength; and defend this great nation. This is our sacred constitutional duty. That's why Congress has passed an NDAA every year for the last 59 years in a row -- always on a bipartisan basis. Now, I look forward to working with my colleagues to make it an even 60 years," Senator Inhofe said.

"This bipartisan NDAA provides our troops with a well-deserved pay raise and tools to protect the health and well-being of our forces and their families. I commend Chairman Inhofe for his bipartisan collaboration," said Senator Reed. "While I do not support every provision in this bill, it makes important investments in readiness, modernization, and force protection and includes several needed reforms. I hope we can improve the bill on the floor. Congress must work on a bipartisan basis to ensure our forces have the right tools and capabilities to combat threats around the globe."

The Fiscal Year 2021 NDAA authorizes a topline of $740.5 billion for our military and national security programs at the Department of Defense and Department of Energy.
