Issue Position: Education/Workforce Development

Issue Position

Nebraska has a solid, locally controlled K-12 system, complimented by a choice of a quality Central Community College or University system for high school graduates. With businesses experiencing growing challenges finding adequately trained workforce to fill job positions….we see a growing focus on "workforce development' in our high schools. To the credit of our locally controlled schools communicating with our local business community….we are seeing renewed focus on informing our students of all of the viable alternatives for post-graduate education. Many high school graduates are beginning to recognize the lucrative, life-long career choices offered through "technical' career options. If elected your Senator, I would stand ready to facilitate "workforce development' from the state level. My hope, and preference, is that this will develop more quickly and efficiently at the local level….with little or no government intervention.
