Last legislative session, the rabid abortionists made an effort to eliminate the few abortion restrictions we have in New Mexico. Among these restrictions is the requirement that a physician perform the actual abortion. If the rabid abortion community had succeeded, then any abortion clinic in New Mexico could hire cheap, unskilled labor to perform abortions. This is a serious risk to women, just to increase profits for abortion clinics.

Additionally, their efforts would remove the protections (conscience clause) of pro-life physicians, forcing them to participate in abortions, against their strongly held beliefs. This is just mean spirited, forcing doctors and nurses to choose between their livelihoods and hell.

I worked with legislators on both sides of the aisle to defeat this egregious bill.
