Congressman Steven Horsford Hosts Live Conversation with Nevada Small Businesses in Honor of National Black Business Month

Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) will host a conversation on Instagram live with Black small businesses owners from Nevada's Fourth Congressional District to discuss the impact of COVID-19.

"Businesses around the country are suffering from an unprecedented economic disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Black small businesses have been hit the hardest," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Black and minority-owned businesses are essential to the success of our future economy. I'll continue to work to expand opportunities for economic development and ensure they can thrive beyond this pandemic."

According to data from the National Bureau of Economic Research, Black business ownership fell from 1.1 million in February 2020 to 640,000 in April, a loss of 41 percent. This represents a higher share compared to other racial and ethnic groups; White business ownership lost 17 percent, Asians lost 26 percent, and Hispanics lost 32 percent.
