Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released a statement for the 19th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001:

"Today marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on our nation. My prayers are with the people who lost a loved one that tragic day, whose hearts are heavier today. I am grateful to the first responders who heroically rushed into dangerous situations to save others, even though they may not have been able to save themselves.

"We will always remember the 2,977 lives lost, the heroism that day, and the way Americans came together to support each other afterwards. May God Bless America."
