Byrne Announces Coronavirus Aid Grant to Southwest Alabama

Statement

Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) released the following statement announcing that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a $400,000 CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission of Mobile. This grant will be used to support regional economic development in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Byrne said: "Supporting the health and economic security of the people of Southwest Alabama has been my top priority during the coronavirus pandemic, and this $400,000 CARES Act grant to help weather the economic storm is welcome news for all our residents. I'll continue fighting for Southwest Alabamians as Congress considers additional coronavirus aid measures. If anyone needs help, I hope they will call my office."

The CARES Act, signed into law by President Trump on March 27, provides EDA with $1.5 billion for economic development assistance programs to help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.
