Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. voted for the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act yesterday. The bill (H.R. 4447) would modernize the country's energy system to protect the environment and grow the economy with more jobs in the expanded renewable energy resources sector. In addition, the bill would develop and deploy renewable and distributed energy resources, improve the efficiency of American homes and businesses, electrify the transportation sector, modernize and enhance the grid that delivers the nation's electricity, and reduce carbon pollution from industrial and traditional sources.

"We need to commit to a future where America is run on clean energy for a variety of reasons," said Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. "It is better for the environment with less pollution in our air and drinking water. It is becoming less expensive than fossil fuels and there is tremendous growth in the clean energy job market. Right now, clean energy jobs outnumber fossil fuel jobs three to one and that is only going to get larger. It is a great bill for New Jersey and our country."
