Wednesday, Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released a statement in support of Midland resident and ChinaAid President Dr. Bob Fu, who was targeted at his home by protestors after exiled Chinese billionaire, Miles Guo accused Fu of being a spy for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP):

"Dr. Fu is a respected and valued member of our community, a Christian, and a personal friend. After fleeing religious imprisonment in China and coming to the United States as a refugee in 1997, he has dedicated his life to exposing human rights violations and advocating on behalf of other Christians in China who are facing persecution--including testifying before Congress, the United Nations and the European Union, and even briefing then President of the United States George W. Bush in 2008. These accusations against him are outrageous and laughable--as Dr. Fu is himself a victim of the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP has proven themselves an adversary of religious freedom through their known persecution of Christians and imprisonment of an estimated one million ethnic Uyghur Muslims in the Xinjiang region, and their far-reaching intimidation and threat tactics used against those who dare to speak out against these human rights violations. The United States must be vigilant in protecting our citizens against the aggression of the CCP."
