In the richest nation in the history of the world, everyone deserves access to clean, affordable water. Yet from Flint to Oscoda, Dan knows this is not the reality for many Michiganders.

As soon as Dan learned of high lead levels in Flint's water, he immediately went to work to secure millions in federal relief for his hometown. Working with Republicans and Democrats, Dan led the fight in Congress to deliver $170 million in aid to help remove pipes and expand health services for families exposed to lead. He has also pushed for accountability when it comes to the failed state decisions that led to this man-made crisis, including passing bipartisan legislation to strengthen public warning notifications when it comes to unacceptable levels of lead found in drinking water.

Many communities across Michigan continue to face the threat of toxic PFAS chemicals. In Congress, Dan leads the bipartisan PFAS Task Force, bringing together Republicans and Democrats to more urgently clean up contamination. He's authored dozens of bills to fund faster clean up operations, hold the Defense Department accountable for their pollution and find new contamination sites.
