STEFANIK HELPS HOUSE PASS SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTERS REAUTHORIZATION ACT

Statement

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik voted today in favor of the School-Based Health Centers Reauthorization Act, legislation that she helped introduce in the House along with Rep. John Sarbanes (MD-03). This legislation will reauthorize the School-Based Health Centers program through 2024 and provide them with federal funding to continue providing students with affordable health care. Congresswoman Stefanik also recently sent a letter to House Leadership as well as members of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education requesting $100 million in funding for a new grant program within the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to support School-Based Health Centers (SBHC's).

"School based health centers are critical to providing North Country children with care, especially in our more rural areas," said Congresswoman Stefanik. "These centers address the healthcare needs of not only the students, but also their families. I am proud to have co-led this effort in the House to reauthorize this essential program and provide quality, affordable healthcare services to children and families. I will consistently advocate for programs that help rural families, and I look forward to seeing these programs continue to be successful in the North Country."
