I learned the legislative process as secretary to Representative Gwendolyn Sawyer Cherry, who in 1970, became the first African American woman elected to the Florida Legislature. I founded the Wells' Built Museum of African American History and Culture to help preserve a little-known portion of Central Florida's history.
