Known as the "father of performance audits," Tim wrote two laws requiring performance audits of all state government agencies and state universities so taxpayers get the best value for their tax and tuition dollars. He defeated plans to expand sales taxes, led efforts to eliminate the estate tax, and cut personal income taxes by billions of dollars. Tim enacted legislation that defeated the Tax Department's plans to tax natural gas utility customers and natural resource production equipment, saving 20th district residents millions of dollars.
