Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09), Vice Chair of the House Education & Labor Committee, today released the following statement regarding the announcement by North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU) and Ørsted in collaboration with the AFL-CIO of a Pioneering Partnership to Develop the Next Generation of Offshore Wind Workers:

"I want to congratulate everyone involved in this historic partnership. Companies and unions coming together to collaborate in the development of important new areas like offshore wind makes my heart sing. They are creating an energy future that protects the planet and expanding opportunities for great, family-sustaining careers.

"I am so excited to see this idea in action, with a global leader in offshore wind development coming together with U.S. construction unions to ensure that the energy we produce offshore is built and maintained safely and efficiently by workers who possess the highest skills and are paid appropriate wages and benefits. This agreement shows how we can create great union jobs and renewable energy sources for the future as one, integrated project.

"The scope of energy production involved in this agreement is stunning -- and it's just the beginning. The opportunity for collaboration like this not just in offshore wind but in other emerging areas is as big and broad as the ocean itself. Let's get to work!"
