House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement upon House passage of the Bipartisan-Bicameral Omnibus & COVID Relief Deal:

"I am glad this COVID relief package finally passed the House, and I look forward to President Trump signing it quickly so hard-working families and small businesses who are still struggling can get the much-needed help they need.

"In addition to another round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) forgivable loans, we also got an agreement to help gig workers and others in the live music industry, and ensure that PPP loans will be deductible. On top of that, we added funds to mass produce and distribute the COVID vaccine to every American who wants to take it. This package is a critical step in the right direction in our efforts to fully reopen America and finally put this pandemic behind us for good.

"It is unfortunate that despite having bipartisan agreement on several items, such as the continuation of the PPP that saved millions of jobs, Speaker Pelosi single-handedly blocked a deal from coming to the Floor because, in her own words, she wanted to wait until after the election. This shouldn't have been about politics: it is about saving the livelihoods of Americans that have been destroyed by lockdowns across the country through no fault of their own.

"I look forward to seeing this aid delivered quickly to our communities and will continue to work towards ensuring our country comes back from this pandemic even stronger than before."
