Sinema Backs Bipartisan FEED Act, Getting Food to Arizona Families in Need

Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema cosponsored the bipartisan, bicameral FEED Act--legislation allowing the federal government to fund partnerships between Arizona cities, towns, and tribes, local restaurants, and nonprofits helping feed Arizona families during COVID-19. The partnerships help put food on the table for Arizonans in need while supporting local restaurants struggling during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"Supporting Arizona restaurants and nonprofits that provide meals for children, seniors, and vulnerable communities helps Arizonans stay healthy and keep food on their tables during the coronavirus pandemic," said Sinema.

The FEMA Empowering Essential Deliveries (FEED) Act aims to provide nutritious meals to people in need during the Coronavirus crisis. Under this legislation, the federal government covers 100 percent of the cost to states and localities so that they can partner with restaurants and nonprofits to prepare meals for those in need. These partnerships will support businesses and small farmers as the Coronavirus pandemic continues. The FEED Act is sponsored by Republican Senator Tim Scott (SC) and Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT). Earlier this month, the House of Representatives filed a companion bill. Representatives Mike Thompson (D-CA) , Jim McGovern (D-MA), and Rodney Davis (R-IL) were all cosponsors.
