Americans Need More Assistance And This Latest Round Of Relief Cannot Be The End Of Our Efforts

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04), released the following statement regarding the passage of an emergency $900 billion coronavirus relief bill to protect public health and the livelihoods of Americans:

"The scale of the challenges facing our country demands action from Congress to protect the lives and livelihoods of Americans. This emergency legislation includes funding for vaccinations, extends and strengthens unemployment, increases SNAP benefits, provides tax relief for families and new funds for small businesses. It also provides funding for schools, assistance for transit systems like WMATA, ends surprise medical bills and secures another round of stimulus checks for Americans.

"Democrats have fought hard for the last seven months to bring President Trump and Senate Republicans to the negotiating table in order to help struggling families put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. This bill will do a lot of good for a lot of Americans, but we must do more.

"Americans need more assistance and this latest round of relief cannot be the end of our efforts. And, with the incoming Biden-Harris Administration, we intend to deliver. We must pass more funding for our vaccination and testing infrastructure, more relief for families and small businesses, additional funding to keep teachers, firefighters and other public employees on the job and much more to build our country back after this pandemic."
