The Republican leader of the Natural Resources Committee of the United States House of Representatives, Bruce Westerman appointed Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón to be the Republican leader on the Committee's Island Affairs for the second time.

"I am honored to continue serving as the Minority Leader for Island Issues on the House Committee on Natural Resources. In addition to overseeing the recovery of Puerto Rico and the path to equality, I will work to support initiatives that promote the priorities of the United States territories, knowing first-hand the problems that impact us all. I want to thank the leader of our caucus on the Committee, Bruce Westerman, for his trust and for allowing me to once again lead these efforts in our Committee, "said the congresswoman.
