Press Release

Date: Jan. 15, 2021
Location: Bismarck, ND

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a member of the Senate Budget and Senate Banking committees, issued the following statement on Congress passing $25 billion in rental assistance:

"Congress passed $25 billion for rental assistance to help struggling families keep a roof over their heads with their lights on and homes warm during a tough time in the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to working with the Administration to ensure people get this assistance as quickly as possible."

These funds will be used by states and local governments to assist constituents in paying for rent, overdue payments, and utilities and home energy costs. The moratorium on evictions was also extended until January 31. It had been set to expire at the end of 2020 until the extension was included in the year-end relief package.

Senator Cramer has been working to help struggling families pay their housing expenses, urging the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to approve a low-income rental assistance program for North Dakota.
