Davids Statement on House Passage of The America Rescue Plan

Statement

"The coronavirus pandemic is continuing to destroy lives and livelihoods across the country. Just last week, we passed the tragic milestone of having lost 500,000 lives to the virus. Meanwhile small businesses are struggling to keep their doors open and millions of workers have lost their jobs. The nationwide vaccination effort is moving us in the right direction and giving us hope for the future, but in the meantime, we need to get relief out to Kansans who are hurting."

"I've long been pushing for many of the measures in this package -- which would ramp up vaccine and PPE production, put money directly in the pockets of Kansans, expand unemployment insurance so there's no gap in services, get aid to our state and local governments to keep our teachers and firefighters on the payroll, and help cover the cost of Kansas expanding Medicaid. While not a perfect bill, and while I've opposed partisan exercises in the past, the American Rescue Plan has the support to become law and get much needed relief into the hands of the American people right away."
