Democrats Push Dangerous Immigration Agenda

Statement

Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement on the Democrats' dangerous immigration agenda:

"We are facing an unprecedented crisis at the border. President Biden and Democrats in Congress have essentially opened our border to anyone who wants to break the law and come into the United States, ensuring even more illegal immigrants from Central America and many other countries are making this dangerous trek.

"Illegally crossing the border is a treacherous endeavor, and instead of implementing commonsense legislation that would safely stem the tide of illegal immigration, Democrats have decided to force through a partisan immigration bill that would incentivize even more illegal immigration and provide green cards to violent criminals and gang members. The fact is, this is nothing more than a mass amnesty for millions that does not secure the border and keep our nation safe. Just this week it was reported that Customs and Border Protection have arrested four people at the border whose names were on the terrorist watchlist. How many more dangerous criminals are out there, ready to take advantage of the lax policies promoted by Joe Biden and the Democrats?

"We must take decisive action to build the wall, secure the border, and prevent even more criminals and terrorists from crossing into the United States. Democrats are even letting illegal immigrants in who could have COVID-19. It's actions like these that can and will lead to unnecessary deaths of innocent Americans.

"It's also important to note, Missouri's economy thrives on growing, harvesting and processing agriculture commodities. Whether it is soybeans, corn, cattle, or hogs, we need an economy that works for Missouri farmers -- one that includes a workable, legal immigration system. The partisan measure put forward today does nothing to create a safe, secure and stable ag workforce that will meet the needs of Missouri's agriculture economy."
