Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) again received the highest possible score from the Defenders of Wildlife on its 2020 Conservation Report Card for 14 critical votes during both sessions of the 116th Congress.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I'm dedicated to working hard to protect our wildlife and its habitats. I am proud and encouraged by this acknowledgement of my voting record by Defenders of Wildlife."

The Conservation Report Card for 2020 evaluated such votes as the effort to block withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords, prohibiting oil and gas leasing on sensitive habitats, marine mammal protection, and others. See the Report Card and the 14 measures on which its scores are based here.

Since being elected to Congress in 2006, Congressman Cohen has received 100 percent on the Conservation Report Card five times.

The Conservation Report Card measures the commitment of U.S. Senators and Representatives to wildlife and habitat conservation. It reviews both House and Senate votes on key conservation issues, providing a clear assessment of how well members of Congress are doing to protect wildlife and wild lands for future generations. The Report Card is an important resource that constituents can use to examine their elected representatives' efforts to conserve our nation's natural heritage for our children and grandchildren.
