Meuser Applauds House Passage of Paycheck Protection Program Extension Act

Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-9) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 1799, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Extension Act of 2021. As a member of the House Small Business Committee, Congressman Meuser was a cosponsor of the legislation which will now go before the Senate for consideration.

"The Paycheck Protection Program has succeeded in supporting small businesses throughout Pennsylvania during this crisis, providing nearly 250,000 loans totaling $27 billion to keep employees on the payroll and assist with operating costs," said Rep. Meuser. "The bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program Extension Act will extend the application deadline for first and second-round PPP loans until May 31, while giving the SBA until June 30th to process all pending applications. Importantly, this legislation will allow more small businesses to access the $92 billion in remaining funds to stay open and help fuel our economic recovery."
